FAQ's

I have a new product that I would like to bring to market. What can you do for me?

We suggest that we meet and discuss what you are looking for in a distribution partner. After establishing these guidelines we will be able to plan how we can either become involved directly or refer you to a suitable partner within our network.

Depending on the innovation requirements we can:

  • Build a Strategic sales plan, identifying strategic partners to network with or start to direct sell into the Australian Market.
  • Do initial market research.
  • Create a web presence for your product and service.
  • Build promotional campaigns / paraphernalia.
  • Commence PR and media activities.
  • Establish trademarks.
  • Review any legislative requirements for the innovations i.e. C Tick approval, Australian Standards.
  • Build a product launch, inviting strategic businesses and individuals that can assist in your products being a success in Australia.
  • Begin networking.

You state that ISO has a vast and integrated network of businesses that can help me! What does that mean?

ISO's speciality is in developing strategic plans from a sales point of view. We can do the work ourselves or identify local business that we can build relationships with to ensure their success. We understand that this is only one part of the business and would rather refer you to a professional that can help in specialised areas. We leverage off our networks to offer you the very best advice for setting up your products presence in your desired market.

Our partner can provide anything from PR and sales training, meeting with Web developers or access to accountants and lawyers to help with IP and product liability advice.

Are there any charges to review potential innovations ready for distribution?

NO. If you fill in the contact us section on our website, ISO will review all products and services at no charge. ISO will then contact you to arrange a meeting to discuss the opportunity in further detail. If you are from overseas please ensure that your contact information is included for us to call you. If you are worried about confidentiality, please fill in our Mutual Confidentiality Agreement (157KB pdf) before contacting us, this protects your Intellectual Property when dealing with ISO.

If the inventor only requires ISO to help build a strategic plan we can quote a fee for this service depending on what work they require.

What sort of fees do you charge to bring new products to market?

If you would like ISO to represent your product in Australia or overseas we will offer to enter into an "exclusive distribution agreement" between ISO and you or your company. The agreements will be based on reaching certain sales and administration targets within a certain timeframe. This gives you confidence that you are not locked into an agreement with somebody unlikely to achieve results.

Our company motto is "Success Through Innovation"; our success will be measured by your success. The above arrangement is fair for both parties, ISO plans and implements a business development plan for your product in the desired market, and you agree to give us exclusivity to the product for a period of time. This ensures that you are happy with the results and ISO can realise their investment in reaching our targets.

If we are at a stage of offering you a distribution relationship with ISO, it is a strong indication that we believe your product will be a success. In some cases the manufacturer or inventor will be responsible for covering start up costs. This could include assistance with initial promotional campaigns, market research, product launches and so on, if any of these items are required, this will be highlighted when entering into an agreement.

Do you require an exclusive distribution agreement?

No. If requested ISO will supply assistance in developing strategic plans only. When it is clearly advantageous for both parties an exclusive distribution agreement will be suggested.

How long may it take to establish my product in Australia or overseas?

This really depends on the nature of the products, their saleability and if your product is qualified or unqualified in the identified market. We usually work on a 12 months sales plan, which means that we will set a sales target for the first 12 months and work towards achieving this. This target will be agreed on before entering into an agreement.

We believe that the most important thing is to get out and start talking about your products to targeted industries and businesses. Our aim is to get some sort of media or publicity exposure within the first 3 months, commence initial sales presentations with the goal of generating sales.

We will create a web presence for your product immediately (a product section on our website dedicated to your product). We will also forward regular announcements to our network on any new products we represent in Australia.

Is a patent required, before you look at our product?

No. However, for your own protection, we strongly advise that this should be investigated. We can put you in touch with the Inventors Association of Australia if you would like advice on setting up a patent.

Have you any examples of products that you have represented that have become a commercial success?

Yes. Wizmark® was the first product we represented, and the outcome so far has been a success. ISO approached the inventor and offered him our company as the vehicle to represent his product in the Australian marketplace. Wizmark® is the heart of a unique, newly patented advertising and promotional format. This item is the latest guerrilla marketing device classified as an interactive urinal communicator (Talking Trough Lollies).

It was a product that had just been launched in the United States and Canada. The inventor was Interested in bringing it to Australia. We developed a strategic plan to launch the product in Australia with a pro-social message. ISO gained support from the Australian Hotels Association, the government and successfully landed a deal for a Drink Spiking campaign in Sydney Australia.

Within the first 3 months of signing an agreement we had the product profiled in a National Newspaper, created a web presence, secured the first order, developed a sales kit that can be easily sent to vendors, commenced initial presentations to some of Australia's largest liquor suppliers and had a launch for it in Australia.

We entered into an exclusive agreement for the product, created a strategic sales plan and now Wizmark® is being labelled as one of the most innovative ways to deliver advertising to the elusive male audience in Australia. For more information please review our Drink Spiking case study on Wizmark® in Australia.
